May 13 (UPI) -- FOX says it has renewed its horror drama The Exorcist for a second season.
"Our heads are spinning. The Exorcist is returning for Season 2!" a Friday Facebook post declared.
The cable network did not reveal the sophomore season's casting or airdate.
Alan Ruck portrayed Henry Rance, the husband of Regan, who has since changed her name to Angela, while Hannah Kasulka and Brianne Howey played the couple's daughters Casey and Katherine.
When Casey began exhibiting violent, bizarre behavior, Catholic priests played by Alfonso Herrera and Ben Daniels were called upon to help drive out the evil spirits inhabiting her.
"#ExorcistCongregation !Thanks so much for all your congratulations & all your support. @ponchohd & I are #Season2 ECSTATIC! @TheExorcistFOX," Daniels tweeted.
"Pura felicidad! Thank you to all the congregation for the support!!! Pure joy and happiness! Can't wait to see #FatherMarcus @bendanielsss," Herrera said in his own Twitter post.
It is unclear whether Season 2 will prominently feature the Rance family or follow the clerics on another supernatural mission.
Kasulka tweeted the words, "Current Mood," which were followed by three purple devil emojis, in response to a fan's announcement of the renewal.
"They were compelled! Proud to announce @TheExorcistFOX will be coming at you for season 2... stay tuned, #ExorcistCongregation," Howey chimed in.
