Zooey Deschanel, Jacob Pechenik welcome second child

May 9 (UPI) -- Zooey Deschanel and Jacob Pechenik have welcomed their second child -- a baby boy.

The 37-year-old actress' rep confirmed Tuesday to E! News that Deschanel recently gave birth to son Charlie Wolf.

"Zooey, Jacob and their daughter Elsie are overjoyed to welcome the newest member of their family," the rep said in a statement.

Sources told People Charlie arrived last week in Los Angeles. Deschanel and Pechenik, a producer known for Rock the Kasbah, married in June 2015, and welcomed daughter Elsie Otter the next month.

"I've never really felt like an adult. But I think it's a huge accomplishment to have a child, so maybe I feel like an adult for that reason," the actress said in the May 2016 issue of Redbook.

"I've slowed things down a bit," she shared. "I think it's good for your whole self -- your creative self, your professional self, and just your soul -- to take a little time for yourself and your family."

Deschanel is known for playing Jess Day on the Fox series New Girl. The show co-stars Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Lamorne Morris and Hannah Simone, and completed a sixth season in April.
