Kaplan filed for divorce April 27, citing irreconcilable differences for the split and listing the couple's date of separation as April 24. Holt responded Tuesday, saying she and Kaplan separated April 27.

People reported Holt requested to have her maiden name, Holt, legally restored. The actress married Kaplan in a private ceremony April 28, 2016, after getting engaged in July 2015.

"I think there's something really sacred about keeping that moment to yourselves," she told TV Week in June, according to Us Weekly. "We just got married in front of our families ... We had the best day!"

Holt is known for playing Rebekah Mikaelson on The CW series The Vampire Diaries and The Originals. She temporarily left The Originals in 2014 in order to focus on her family.

"I wasn't pushed out, I wasn't fed up with Rebekah, I didn't quit mid-season, there was no drama, there was no rift between cast members ... I made a life choice, not a career choice," the star explained to Buzzfeed the same year.
