May 3 (UPI) -- Kevin Owens regained the United States Championship from Chris Jericho Tuesday on Smackdown Live, days after he lost the belt to his former best friend at WWE Payback.

The rematch between the bitter rivals was made by Smackdown Live commissioner Shane McMahon after he welcomed Jericho over to the blue brand from Raw. McMahon also banned the No. 1 contender for the United States Championship, AJ Styles, from ringside after he attacked Owens to start the show.

The main event bout between Jericho and Owens ended when KO connected with his patent Pop-Up Powerbomb for the three count.

Not content with just winning, Owens then brutally attacked Jericho as he was being attended to by WWE doctors. The self-proclaimed New Face of America ended his assault by throwing Jericho into a steel post after placing a steel chair around his neck.

In the women's division, Smackdown Women's Champion Naomi teamed up with Charlotte Flair to take on Natalya and Carmella in a Tag Team Match.

Naomi was left by herself to begin the contest as Natalya, Carmella and their friend, Tamina, had attacked Flair backstage before the bell rang.

Flair was still able to make it to ringside, but was visibly hurt. Despite a valiant effort, Carmella and Natalya won the match and continued to attack their opponents until Becky Lynch entered the ring. Lynch then surprise attacked the trio and Carmella's side piece James Ellsworth after she teased joining up with them.

Also on Smackdown Live, Jinder Mahal defeated Sami Zayn after he was forced to return Randy Orton's stolen WWE Championship to McMahon, Tye Dillinger defeated Aiden English and Dolph Ziggler defeated Sin Cara.
