May 3 (UPI) -- Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist come together in the first trailer for Netflix and Marvel's upcoming crossover series, The Defenders.

The clip, released Wednesday, begins with Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) being interrogated by Luke Cage star Simone Missick (Detective Misty Knight), before Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil), steps in as her lawyer.

The trailer then moves onto Finn Jones (Iron Fist) and Mike Colter (Luke Cage), having their first meeting as they exchange blows during a heated fight.

Other characters from throughout Marvel's Netflix universe, including Elodie Yung as Elektra and Rosario Dawson as nurse Claire Temple, also appear along with a new villain portrayed by Sigourney Weaver and Daredevil's mentor, Stick (Scott Glenn), who explains to the heroes that they need to get their act together as "The war for New York is here."

"Marvel's The Defenders follows Daredevil (Cox), Jessica Jones (Ritter), Luke Cage (Colter) and Iron Fist (Jones). A quartet of singular heroes with one common goal -- to save New York City. This is the story of four solitary figures, burdened with their own personal challenges, who realize they just might be stronger when teamed together," reads the synopsis.

"We make quite a team," Jones says as the group shares a dinner together after they are seen taking on a group of henchmen inside a hallway.
