May 2 (UPI) -- Kevin Spacey's President Frank Underwood knows what's best for America in the latest trailer for Season 5 of Netflix's House of Cards.
"The American people don't know what's best for them. I do. I know exactly what they need," Underwood is heard saying as footage of his campaign against Will Conway (Joel Kinnaman) carries on.
"They're like little children, Claire. We have to hold their sticky fingers and wipe their filthy mouths. Teach them right from wrong. Tell them what to think, how to feel and what to want," he continues. "They even need help riding their wildest dreams, crafting their worst fears. Lucky for them, they have me. They have you. In January, Netflix released a teaser on Inauguration Day that featured an eerie rendition of the Pledge of Allegiance recited by a group of children as an upside down American flag was seen waving in the wind.
Season 5 of House of Cards, which premiers May 30 on Netflix, is the first season under new showrunners Melissa James Gibson and Frank Pugliese, who replaced former showrunner Beau Willimon.
"The battlefield for Season 5 is the American psyche," Gibson said to Entertainment Weekly about the new season.
