Jessica Biel's crime drama 'The Sinner' to debut on USA Network Aug. 2

April 12 (UPI) -- Jessica Biel's eight-episode, limited series The Sinner is to debut on Aug. 2, USA Network announced.

The 7th Heaven alum stars and executive produces the drama about a young mother "who, when overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage, commits a startling act of violence and to her horror, has no idea why," press notes explained.

Spaceballs and Independence Day icon Bill Pullman plays Harry Ambrose, a detective who "finds himself obsessed with uncovering the woman's buried motive."

The small-screen adaptation of Petra Hammesfahr's book The Sinner was created by showrunner and executive producer Derek Simonds, with Charlie Gogolak also serving as executive producer.
