'The Mindy Project' to return for a sixth and final season in September

March 29 (UPI) -- The Mindy Project will return for its sixth and final season in September, Hulu announced Wednesday. 

The single-camera comedy -- starring Mindy Kaling, Ed Weeks and Ike Barinholtz -- first premiered in 2012 on Fox and moved to Hulu in 2015.

The subscription-based service described the show as being about a doctor "navigating the tricky waters of both her personal and professional life, as she pursues her dreams of becoming the perfect woman, finding the perfect man and getting her perfect, romantic-comedy ending."

Seasons 1 through 5 are now streaming on Hulu.
