'The Hills' alum Jason Wahler expecting first child

Feb. 22 (UPI) -- The Hills alum Jason Wahler is going to be a first-time dad.

The 30-year-old television personality announced in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that wife Ashley is pregnant and expecting a baby in August.

"We are so overjoyed and excited for this baby!" Wahler said. "We absolutely love kids and are so happy to finally be starting a family of our own."

"[I'm looking forward to seeing my child] have their first words or walk for the first time. All of it is such an incredible journey and blessing we get to be a part of," he added.

Wahler and his wife will announce the sex of the child at a small gathering of family and friends in March. The star followed up by posting a photo on Instagram of his baby's sonogram and onesie.

"So blessed! :)," he captioned the picture for his 37,900 followers.

Wahler's announcement follows news that ex-girlfriend and former Hills star Lauren Conrad is pregnant and expecting her first child with husband William Tell. Hills alum Whitney Port is also expecting her first with husband Tim Rosenman.

"Timmy and I were a bit shocked, but so excited to begin this journey," Port wrote on her blog this month. "It's been such an interesting and trying but amazing journey already."

Wahler appeared on multiple seasons of the MTV reality series Laguna Beach and The Hills while dating Conrad in the 2000s. He said in an interview with ET in May that the show led to addiction issues and a suicide attempt.
