Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Selena Gomez shared the first trailer for Netflix's upcoming high school drama 13 Reasons Why on social media Wednesday.

The series, executive produced by Gomez, is based on the Jay Asher young adult novel of the same name and follows the story of Hannah who after committing suicide continues to haunt her fellow classmates through the use of audio tapes.

"A peek at a passion project I've been working on with @Netflix," the pop star noted on Instagram to her record-setting 108 million followers alongside the clip.

"I'm about to tell you the story of my life. More specifically, why my life ended," Hannah, portrayed by Katherine Langford, says to the camera.

Hannah's audio tapes will be distributed by Clay (Dylan Minnette) to other students who each played a role in her death.

"If you want to know the truth, just press play," Hannah continues before one classmate exclaims, "If one thing had gone differently, somewhere along the line, maybe none of this would have happened."

13 Reason Why arrives on Netflix March 31.
