"Before I go I want to say something about my friend, Carrie Fisher," DeGeneres said before presenting a highlight reel of Fisher's best moments on Ellen.
"I knew her for a long time. She's been on the show many times, and the last time was just a month ago. And, I loved when she was here. She made me laugh so hard. She was smart. She was funny. She was hilariously honest about herself and the world around her," she continued.
The following clip featured moments such as Fisher and DeGeneres hilariously selling tickets to Star Wars: The Force Awakens on the street while donning Princess Leia earmuffs and another moment where a baby photo of Fisher was compared to Donald Trump.
"I miss you, Carrie," DeGeneres concluded. "I love you."
Fisher died at age 60 in December after going into cardiac arrest on a flight from London to Los Angeles. A day after her passing, Fisher's mother Debbie Reynolds died after suffering from a stroke at the age of 84.
The mother-daughter screen stars are set to be buried together. A private memorial service is being held for the film legends Thursday that is reportedly being held at the compound where they lived in Beverly Hills.
