LOS ANGELES, Dec. 15 (UPI) -- Meagan Good is set to portray cult film hero Foxy Brown in a new television series currently in development at streaming service Hulu.
According to Deadline, Empire co-executive producer Malcolm Spellman and Hand of God creator Ben Watkins will be penning the project with executive producers Tony Krantz, Jason Weinberg, Evan Hainey and Good's husband DeVon Franklin.
The original 1974 film Foxy Brown famously starred actress Pam Grier in the title role as a woman out for revenge after her boyfriend is murdered by a drug syndicate.
MGM who owns the rights to the film is the studio behind the new series under their MGM TV banner.
A box-office success when it was released, Foxy Brown has influenced other films such as Austin Powers in Goldmember with Beyonce's character Foxxy Cleopatra taking after Foxy Brown and Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown which also starred Grier.
The role marks the latest television project for Good after starring in Fox's Minority Report based on the Steven Spielberg film of the same name and NBC's Deception. She is next set to appear in Lifetime movie The 10th Date alongside Kelly Rowland.
