Jennifer Aniston: 'Friends' reunion won't work because of social media

LONDON, Dec. 1 (UPI) -- Jennifer Aniston says a Friends reunion won't work because of present-day focus on social media.

The 47-year-old actress explained on Thursday's episode of the British talk show Lorraine that it would be too hard for the series to recapture a time before the prevalence of Facebook and Instagram.

"Honestly, I don't know what we would do," Aniston admitted. "I think that period of time was sort of nostalgic. I think why people have such an affection for it is because even though it was only 12 years ago it ended, or 13 -- God, it's getting farther and farther away -- there was something about a time when our faces weren't stuffed into cell phones."

"We weren't checking Facebooks and Instagrams," she said of the show's characters. "We were in a room together, in a coffee shop together. We were talking, having conversations. We have lost that."

Aniston played Rachel Green on the popular NBC sitcom, which had a 10-season run from 1994 to 2004. She admitted in an interview with BBC The One in November that she still watches reruns of the show.

"I can't help it. First, I'm trying to remember which episode it is. And then half the time I'm saying to myself, 'I don't remember that.' You get sucked into the nostalgia of it," she said.

Friends co-starred Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer. Perry previously told The Chris Evans Breakfast Show that a reunion would be "tough" because the series "ended on such a high note."
