Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy crowned winners of 'Dancing with the Stars' for Season 23

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 22 (UPI) -- Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and her professional partner Val Chmerkovskiy were declared the winners of Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night.

The couple beat out their fellow finalists -- race-car driver James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess, and retired football player Calvin Johnson, Jr. and Lindsay Arnold -- for the honor.

Tom Bergeron and Erin Andrews co-hosted the latest edition of the ABC competition series, while the judges' panel included Len Goodman, Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.
