LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Neil Patrick Harris stars as the villainous Count Olaf as he attempts to steal his family's fortune in the latest trailer for Netflix's adaptation of Lemony Snicket's A Series Of Unfortunate Events.

The clip released Wednesday tells the story of orphaned children Violet (Malina Weissman), Klaus (Louis Hynes) and Sunny Baudelaire as they are forced to live with their uncle Count Olaf following the mysterious deaths of their parents.

Based on the classic Daniel Handler children's book of the same name, Olaf is shown tormenting the children with chores and disguising himself as a number of different characters in order to gain access to their vast inheritance.

"The world is vast and full of wonders. So on Friday, the 13th of January, please...watch something else," Netflix notes jokingly as part of the synopsis.

Executive produced by Barry Sonnenfeld (Men in Black, The Addams Family) and Handler, the eight-part series also stars Patrick Warburton, Joan Cusack, Malina Weissman and Louis Hynes.
