LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19 (UPI) -- FX has renewed American Crime Story for a third season, which will focus on the murder of Gianni Versace, ahead of its Season 2 Katrina-themed premiere.
Season 3 of Ryan Murphy's FX hit is expected to premiere in 2018 with 10 episodes focused on the 1997 murder of high-end fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was shot and killed by serial killer Andrew Cunanan on the steps of his Miami home.
Versace/Cunanan: American Crime Story will draw from the book Vulgar Favors by Maureen Orth. Tom Rob Smith has been tasked with penning the first two episodes.
The series' second season will focus on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which ravaged New Orleans and the Gulf states in 2005.
Murphy received an Emmy nod for his directing work on the first season, People v. O.J. Simpson.
