LOS ANGELES, Oct. 18 (UPI) -- Sesame Workshop has announced new plans to revamp their long-running Elmo's World segment on Sesame Street ahead of its 47th Season.

According to Deadline, the company and new broadcasting home HBO are looking to reimagine Elmo's World by using live action films and interactive thinking games along with new characters such Smartie, an animated cell phone and a pair of brothers related to Elmo's friend Mr. Noodle.

"We're excited to bring back an inventive and interactive take on one of the most successful children's television segments, 'Elmo's World,' for today's kids," noted Sesame Workshop creative director and EVP Brown Johnson in a statement.

"Kids love to learn with Elmo, and they are sure to enjoy the beautiful new chalk-drawn world Elmo creates in his imagination. We are also thrilled to be working with the legendary 'original' Mr. Noodle, Bill Irwin, and proud to bring two new diverse and multi-talented Mr. Noodles into our 'World,'" he continued.

The upcoming season set to premiere in January will also introduce a new curriculum based on kindness that will be presented throughout the show.

"Kindness and empathy are learned behaviors," adds SVP content and Curriculum at Sesame Workshop Dr. Rosemarie Truglio. "It is important for preschool children to see and understand what it means to be kind. Children can learn that kindness means understanding the feelings and needs of others and that being kind not only makes others feel good, it can make them feel good too."

The new additions coming to Sesame Street come after HBO recently announced plans to air remastered versions of fellow Jim Henson children's series Fraggle Rock later this year.
