"This Christmas the Doctor will be back in 'The Return of Doctor Mysterio'! #NYCC2016," said a message accompanying the featurette on Facebook.

The holiday program will star series regular Peter Capaldi as the titular time traveler. The video clip shows Capaldi working with a green screen before special effects are digitally added.

Justin Chatwin is seen as the superhero Doctor Mysterio in the New York-set episode, which will also feature appearances by Charity Wakefield and Matt Lucas.

Capaldi and show-runner Steven Moffat were at New York Comic Con Friday to promote the upcoming season of their sci-fi series.
