The show follows the relationships of the owner of a small donut shop with his enterprising, young employee and their loyal patrons in "a quickly gentrifying Chicago neighborhood," a press release said.

"This show has been very high on our radar since we first put it into development last winter," Glenn Geller, president of CBS Entertainment, said in a statement Wednesday. "Jermaine Fowler is a rising young star, Judd Hirsch is a comedy legend and the entire cast is full of great comedic talent. We're very excited to expand our comedy line-up with Superior Donuts."
