'Fuller House' Season 2 to premiere in December

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 (UPI) -- Fuller House has set a Season 2 premiere date in the winter.

Candace Cameron Bure, who plays D.J. Tanner on the Netflix sitcom, revealed Wednesday that the Full House sequel series will return to the streaming site in December.

"Get excited!!! Fuller House Season 2 premieres globally on @netflix on December 9th 2016!" she captioned the show's official Season 2 poster.

John Stamos and Jodie Sweetin, who portray Uncle Jesse and Stephanie Tanner, respectively, followed up with posts of their own. The news comes on the same day as Uncle Joey actor Dave Coulier's 57th birthday.

"Will you be home for the holidays? @FullerHouse will be back December 9th on @netflix," Stamos tweeted before wishing Coulier a happy birthday.

"December 9th!! Premier date for @fullerhouse is official!! Can't wait for you all to see the fun we have in store for you this season!" Sweetin wrote.

The original Full House had an eight-season run on ABC from 1987 to 1995. Fuller House follows an adult and widowed D.J. Tanner (Bure) as she raises her three sons with the help of her family and friends.

"I'm super excited. Our season this year is very holiday-themed," Bure revealed on Wednesday's episode of The View. "We have a Halloween show, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's Eve, and lots of family."

Fuller House also features original stars Lori Loughlin and Andrea Barber. Sweetin told Entertainment Tonight in August that she and the cast have "kinda given up" on Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen returning to play Michelle Tanner.
