Laurie Hernandez, Vanilla Ice and James Hinchcliffe debut on 'Dancing with the Stars'

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 13 (UPI) -- Season 23 of Dancing with the Stars kicked off Monday night with an energetic group performance by the show's pros to the song "On Top of the World" at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

Tom Bergeron introduced this season's contestants, describing the "incredible personalities" as "the subtle host, two champions direct from the Summer Olympics, a man who made a run for the White House, and the only little person ever to compete on any version of our show, anywhere in the world."

Erin Andrews returned as co-host of the program, while the judges' panel featured Len Goodman, Julianne Hough, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba.

No one was eliminated from the competition in the season premiere.
