Mary J. Blige to guest star on 'How to Get Away with Murder' Season 3

LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Mary J. Blige has signed on to guest star on Season 3 of ABC's hit crime drama, How to Get Away with Murder.

According to Entertainment Weekly, while the singers role remains a mystery, it may involve the show's upcoming plot line which features main protagonist Annalise Keating (Viola Davis), being taunted by an unknown perpetrator who is releasing posters of the law professor with the word "killer" written on it.

The role is a return to television for Blige who has started to transition over to a career in acting having recently appeared on ABC's black-ish, Fox's Empire and NBC's The Wiz Live! where she portrayed the Wicked Witch of the West.

Blige will also be starring in a World War II based drama, Mudbound dired by Dee Rees and also starring Jason Mitchell, Jason Clarke, Garrett Hedlund and Carey Mulligan according to Deadline.

How to Get Away with Murder returns for Season 3 starting Sept. 22 on ABC.
