LOS ANGELES, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Catherine Zeta-Jones will return to television in Ryan Murphy's series Feud.

The 46-year-old Welsh actress, whose last TV role was in the 1996 miniseries Titanic, will play British-American screen legend Olivia de Havilland in the new FX drama.

"Thrilled that Oscar-winner Catherine Zeta-Jones is joining Feud as Oscar-winner Olivia de Havilland," Murphy announced in a tweet Tuesday.

Zeta-Jones joins Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon, who will portray Joan Crawford and Bette Davis, respectively. The show will explore the actresses' famous rivalry and focus on other feuds in subsequent seasons.

Crawford and Davis' rift began on the set of the 1962 movie Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and developed into a lifelong conflict. De Havilland, a two-time Academy Award most famous for playing the part of Melanie in Gone with the Wind, was a friend of Davis.

"It is a fantastic project which only Ryan Murphy could deliver," Fox Television CEOs Dana Walden and Gary Newman said in May. Murphy is known for the series Glee, American Horror Story, Scream Queens and American Crime Story.

Zeta-Jones won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 2002 movie Chicago. She has since appeared in Intolerable Cruelty and The Legend of Zorro, and will star in the forthcoming film The Godmother.
