The project, according to The Hollywood Reporter, is said to be a limited-series which has already received multiple offers from networks and streaming services. Russell is said to be preparing to pitch the idea to companies once he returns from vacation next week.
Plot details reported on by Deadline describe the venture as a crime thriller potentially set in the '90s. Scott Lambert, Alexandra Michan and Megan Ellison are set to produce alongside Russell.
The series will mark yet another collaboration between De Niro and Russell after the actor most recently appeared in his films Silver Linings Playbook, Joy and in an uncredited role in American Hustle.
De Niro will next be seen in the boxing drama Hands of Stone with Moore set to star in spy sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle.
