NEW YORK, July 31 (UPI) -- Despite his success on the TV shows Emmerdale and Misfits, and in the films This is England and Pride, British actor Joe Gilgun said he considers the role of vampire Cassidy in the Seth Rogen-produced Preacher a life-changing opportunity.

"I've been on the telly for a long while," Gilgun said in a recent roundtable interview with reporters in New York.

"I've never saved any money or anything," he confessed with a laugh. "I'm not one of those people. I've spent it all on cannabis and trainers that I never wear out because I never go anywhere. The pointless bollocks I've accumulated, but not a pot to piss in! Sleeping on a mattress, you know what I mean? Only one set of bedsheets. No girls will sleep with me and when they do, they are horrified. Still in love with my ex-girlfriend... Seeing Seth Rogen in front of you, asking you if you want to do this job, man, it's just ridiculous. It's really moving. ... It's just incredible."

The supernatural comic-book adaptation's first season is to wrap up Sunday night on AMC. Preacher already has been renewed for Season 2.
