The series stars Charlie Cox as the title character, a blind lawyer by day and crime-fighting superhero by night.

The renewal announcement was officially made at San Diego Comic-Con where the cast of the streaming service's upcoming Marvel drama Luke Cage participated in a panel discussion and shared with fans footage from the eagerly awaited show. On hand to answer questions were Luke Cage stars Mike Colter, Alfre Woodard, Mahershala Ali, Theo Rossi, Simone Missick and Frank Whaley, and showrunner/executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker.

Also dropping by the Marvel/Netflix panel was Jon Bernthal, who played Frank Castle in Season 2 of Daredevil, and who will reprise the role in his own Netflix series The Punisher.

The event included as well the unveiling of teasers for Iron Fist, a new Marvel/Netflix collaboration starring Finn Jones, and The Defenders, which unites the characters of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist.
