LONDON, July 4 (UPI) -- America's small-screen adaptation of the Lethal Weapon film franchise will air on ITV in the United Kingdom.

The show, which is to debut on Fox in the United States this fall, follows Clayne Crawford and Damon Wayans as Riggs and Murtagh, an unlikely cop duo working a crime-ridden beat in modern-day Los Angeles.

"We're absolutely delighted to be bringing Lethal Weapon to our main channel. It's rare that we find an acquisition with that sweet spot potential -- the best production values and hugely entertaining drama, that we think can appeal to the biggest and broadest audiences and take up a place in ITV primetime," Kevin Lygo, ITV's director of television, said in a statement.
