LOS ANGELES, June 27 (UPI) -- Lena Headey says she was "grinning" when she learned of Cersei's triumph on Game of Thrones.

The 42-year-old British actress discussed the show's explosive Season 6 finale with Entertainment Weekly after Cersei Lannister was crowned queen of the Seven Kingdoms on Sunday's episode.

"I couldn't believe it, obviously," Headey said of her character's plot twist. "I read it like nine times, like, 'You're joking!' Then I'm left to wonder who's going to take her down. She may only be there for a second."

Cersei secured the throne after blowing up the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce) and Margaery Tyrell (Natalie Dormer). The strategic move came at a price, however, as her last remaining child, Tommen Baratheon (Dean-Charles Chapman), committed suicide in response to the attack.

"She has her greatest moment of triumph. She gets rid of all her enemies, that she knows of anyway," Headey said. "Then there's that moment where she goes to see dead Tommen and she thinks, 'Ah. Well. I'll [take the crown].' It's so wrong."

The Game of Thrones star said there isn't "a chance in hell" Cersei's reign will last, given the show's propensity to kill off characters. She also predicted in a behind-the-scenes featurette that a childless Cersei will be more "dangerous" in Season 7.

"Now you have this woman who, I don't know if it's crazed, I think it's just empty. Which is probably more dangerous," Headey said. Cersei's other two children, Joffrey and Myrcella, both previously died of poison.

The Season 6 finale also featured the death of Walder Frey (David Bradley) at the hands of Arya Stark (Maisie Williams). Game of Thrones will return for a seventh, possibly abbreviated, season in spring 2017.
