'Hamilton's America,' 'Anne of Green Gables' get PBS premiere dates

NEW YORK, June 24 (UPI) -- PBS says it plans to air its eagerly awaited Hamilton's America special on Oct. 21.

The program takes an in-depth look at the blockbuster Broadway show, which this month earned 11 Tony Awards, including Best Musical.

The documentary 9/11 Inside the Pentagon will premiere on Sept. 6, The Contenders -- 16 for '16 will bow Sept. 13, Ken Burns' Defying the Nazis: The Sharps' War will debut Sept. 20 and Frontline's The Choice 2016 series will return on Sept. 27.

Season 2 of the costume drama Poldark also will be begin this fall, although a specific airdate has not yet been announced.

Norman Lear: Just Another Version of You is set for Oct. 25, while Black America Since MLK: And Still I Rise will air Nov. 15 and Nov. 22.

Anne of Green Gables, a new feature film starring Martin Sheen and based on the iconic book by L.M. Montgomery, will air on Nov. 24.
