The actress will debut on Supergirl Season 2 starting with the third episode. The casting has been a long time coming for producers Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg who attempted to get Carter onto show starting with Season 1.

Carter is the latest new star announced for Supergirl following news that actor Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Superman.

The 64-year-old is famous for portraying Wonder Woman in the popular 1970s television series of the same name. Considered by many to have owned the role and despite a fan petition, Carter will not be making an appearance in Warner Bros. upcoming Wonder Woman solo film due in theaters June 2, 2017 starring Gal Gadot.

Supergirl returns Monday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
