HBO cancels 'Vinyl' after renewing it for a second season

LOS ANGELES, June 22 (UPI) -- HBO says it will not air a second season of Vinyl, despite previously having renewed the 1970s-set, rock 'n' roll-themed drama.

"After careful consideration, we have decided not to proceed with a second season of Vinyl," the cable network said in a statement Wednesday.

"Obviously, this was not an easy decision. We have enormous respect for the creative team and cast for their hard work and passion on this project."

Created by Mick Jagger, Martin Scorsese, Rich Cohen and Terence Winter, the show stars Bobby Cannavale, Max Casella, Ato Essandoh, Jack Quaid, Ray Romano, Juno Temple and Olivia Wilde.
