Winona Ryder searches for the truth in first trailer for Netflix's 'Stranger Things'

LOS GATOS, Calif., June 9 (UPI) -- Winona Ryder is a mother searching for her missing son in the first trailer for Netflix's upcoming supernatural thriller, Stranger Things.

The clip released Thursday, showcases the series' 1980s setting that takes place in the quiet town in Indiana that is rocked by the sudden disappearance of a young boy.

As Ryder starts to uncover clues about her missing child, mysteries surrounding a secret government experiment begin to unravel.

"A love letter to the supernatural classics of the '80s, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air," reads the official plot synopsis.

"As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl."

Stranger Things also stars David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Cara Buono, Charlie Heaton, Matthew Modine and will premiere on the streaming service July 15.
