LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- HBO has revealed that Game of Thrones will end Season 6 with a pair of extended episodes.

Announced Wednesday on HBO.com, Episode 9 which airs June 19 and has now been officially titled the "Battle of the Bastards" will run for 60 minutes, a longer runtime compared to previous episodes.

The title alludes to the often hinted at battle between Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) for control of Winterfell.

Episode 10 which represents Season 6's finale now titled "The Winds of Winter," a nod to author George R.R. Martin's upcoming sixth novel in his A Song of Ice and Fire series, will debut June 26. The runtime, listed at 69 minutes, will make the finale the longest episode in Game of Thrones history.

Back in April, showrunners David Benioff and D.B Weiss discussed the possibility of Game of Thrones concluding with shorter seasons. "I think we're down to our final 13 episodes after this season. We're heading into the final lap," Benioff said of potential plans following Season 6. "That's the guess, though nothing is yet set in stone, but that's what we're looking at."
