Pompeo last signed a contract for two years back in 2014. Season 13 of Grey's Anatomy is set to air this fall on ABC.

While details on the new contract have yet to be revealed, according to Entertainment Weekly, Pompeo is on track to become one of the highest paid actresses on television.

Sara Ramirez recently exited the series after starring as Dr. Callie Torres for 10 years. When asked about Ramirez's departure and how much longer Grey's Anatomy will last, creator Shonda Rhimes noted, "I'm always surprised when Ellen [Pompeo] is ready to re-up. Our pact is that we will go together. When she goes, I go."
