LOS ANGELES, May 19 (UPI) -- Space, the final frontier, is explored once again in the first teaser trailer for CBS's new Star Trek television series.

The clip, released Wednesday, warp speeds viewers away from Earth into an asteroid field and burning sun before a new Star Trek logo appears across the screen.

"CBS presents a new adventure," a voice proclaims before the trailer notes that new crews, new villains, new heroes, and new worlds will be featured when Star Trek premieres on the network in 2017.

Following the premiere episode, all subsequent first-run episodes will be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the network's digital subscription video-on-demand and live-streaming service, as previously announced.

Set to be executive produced by Rod Roddenberry, the son of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, along with Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and Bryan Fuller, who was previously announced as showrunner, this new series marks the first program developed for CBS All Access.

No casting for the show has been announced.

Outside of television, Paramount's third film in its rebooted Star Trek series, Star Trek Beyond starring Chris Pine as Cpt. James T. Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock and Zoe Saldana as Lt. Nyota Uhura, is set to arrive in theaters on July 22.

Beyond star and screenwriter Simon Pegg, when asked if the film would tie into the series, responded "Absolutely not!"
