LOS ANGELES, May 13 (UPI) -- Jordan Rodgers will compete on The Bachelorette Season 12.

Rodgers and the other men will vie for the affections of Joelle "JoJo" Fletcher. The 25-year-old real estate developer came in second on The Bachelor Season Season 20 after Ben Higgins ultimately chose Lauren Bushnell.

Rodgers described himself as humorous, energetic and empathetic in his cast bio. The former NFL player revealed he loves "spontaneous" dates and cited his grandparents as the people he most admires in the world.

"They broke the mold after their generation," he explained. "They are the most loving people and best example of love and selflessness."

Season 12 started filming in March and will premiere Monday, May 23 at 9 p.m. ET. Sources told Us Weekly Rodgers and Fletcher "are really hitting it off" and called the contestant "a front-runner" in the competition.

Rodgers played college football for Vanderbilt University before being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2013. He also played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Miami Dolphins, in addition to the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League.
