'Supergirl' renewed for second season, but moves from CBS to The CW

LOS ANGELES, May 12 (UPI) -- Supergirl has been renewed for a second season, but will move from its initial home of CBS to the channel's sister network The CW.

"It's official! SUPERGIRL is renewed and moving to The CW with ARROW and THE FLASH!" DC Comics announced on its Facebook page Thursday.

The series stars Melissa Benoist as the titular heroine, also known as Kara Zor-El. Mehcad Brooks plays James "Jimmy" Olsen and Calista Flockhart plays Cat Grant.

Laura Benanti, Chyler Leigh and David Harewood rounded out the cast for Season 1.
