CBS renews 'Life in Pieces' for a second season

LOS ANGELES, May 11 (UPI) -- CBS has renewed its freshman comedy Life in Pieces for the 2016-17 television season.

The network announced the renewal Wednesday.

The show stars Dianne Wiest, James Brolin, Zoe Lister-Jones, Colin Hanks, Angelique Cabral, Thomas Sadoski, Betsy Brandt, Dan Bakkedahl, Niall Cunningham, Holly J. Barrett and Giselle Eisenberg. Its executive producers are Justin Adler, Aaron Kaplan, Jason Winer, Jeff Morton and Brad Copeland.

Created by Adler, the series follows the trials and triumphs of three generations of the Short family.
