LOS ANGELES, April 28 (UPI) -- Bran and Meera will return in the Sunday, May 1 episode of Game of Thrones.
HBO released several photos from the episode Wednesday, including one of Isaac Hempstead-Wright as Bran Stark and one of Ellie Kendrick as Bran's ally and traveling companion, Meera Reed.
Gemma Whelan is also shown as Yara Greyjoy, sister to Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen), aka Reek. Varys (Conleth Hill) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel), meanwhile, are seen awaiting Daenery's Targaryen's (Emilia Clarke) return.
Bran and Meera were last seen in the Season 4 finale as they arrive at the Three-Eyed Raven's weirwood tree. The Three-Eyed Raven tells Bran he will never walk again but says he will learn to fly by using his warg and greensight powers.
"I love this season so much," Hempstead-Wright told Entertainment Weekly. "He's been very insular in his storyline. Now he's realized he's been having his dreams because he's got to save Westeros. It's such a cool storyline now."
"Bran is pretty damn close to being the Three-Eyed Raven now," he teased. "Now we're given looks into very important events in the past, present and future of this world and Bran is beginning to piece them together like a detective, almost as if he's watching the show."
"It started off with these disturbing dreams and finding he could control direwolves," the star explained. "Then he discovered he could warg into humans. Then he started to have these weird visions. Now he's starting to make use of the visions and starting to discover he can interact with the past -- he's like Doctor Who. It's Doctor Bran!"
Game of Thrones returned for a sixth season Sunday with plenty of shockers, including Melisandre's (Carice van Houten) secret. The series co-stars Lena Headey, Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner and airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET.
