Strahan confirmed to the media after Tuesday's edition of the program that he will leave Live! in the fall to become a full-time co-host on Good Morning America.
Ripa has not been to the show since the development was revealed. Ana Gasteyer served as her sub Wednesday when Strahan made an official announcement on-air.
The entertainment industry trade newspaper said the relationship between Strahan and Ripa has been strained for some time and the situation was reportedly exacerbated when Strahan became a contributor on GMA two years ago.
E! News said Ripa was blind-sided by the news of Strahan's departure when she found out about it at the same time other staffers did. She has not publicly commented on the matter.
