Jason Derulo gets 'freaky' on 'Lip Sync Battle'

LOS ANGELES, April 4 (UPI) -- Jason Derulo channels Rick James in a newly released preview clip for an upcoming episode of Spike's hit music competition series, Lip Sync Battle.

The video released Monday, features Derulo dressed as the iconic James complete with a wig and a sparkling black ensemble as he mimes the lyrics to the late star's 1981 mega hit, "Super Freak."

Dancing alongside a gathering of female performers, Derulo perfectly displays James' signature dance moves and hip-thrusts as hosts LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen look on.

Also present is Derulo's competition for Lip Sync Battle, American Idol alum Katharine McPhee who will face off against the R&B star on April 7 at 10 p.m. ET with her own, yet-to-be revealed lip-synching rendition of a popular song.

In February, Derulo was named as a judge for Season 13 of the revamped So You Think You Can Dance now officially titled SYTYCD: The Next Generation.
