WILMINGTON, N.C., April 2 (UPI) -- One of the main cast members of Sleepy Hollow was killed off Friday in the supernatural series' Season 3 penultimate episode.

Joe Corbin, played by Zach Appelman since Season 2, died at the hands of his girlfriend Jenny, played by Lyndie Greenwood, after he was transformed back into a wendigo monster. Joe and Jenny have been crucial to helping Jenny's sister Abbie, played by Nicole Beharie, and her partner Ichabod Crane, played by Tom Mison, in saving the world from various evil forces.

Appelman confirmed his character is really dead in social-media posts shortly after the show aired.

"Last day on set with the best co-star a guy could ask for. Gonna miss this one," he captioned an Instagram photo of him with Greenwood. "Big thanks to all the #sleepyhollow fans for welcoming Joe Corbin in this season, and showing me so much love. It's been a blast."

"My love. I'll miss you so much. #JoeCorbinForever," Greenwood tweeted.
