LOS ANGELES, March 12 (UPI) -- Switched at Birth creator Lizzy Weiss says her family dramedy is to end with its upcoming fifth season.

"This season of #SwitchedatBirth will be our final one. We are ending the show after an amazing 103 episodes with pride, love, and gratitude," Weiss tweeted Friday.

The Kansas City area-set show started out on ABC Family, which was later re-branded as Freeform. It stars Vanessa Marano, Katie Leclerc, Constance Marie, Lea Thompson, D.W. Moffett and Lucas Garbeel.

The series follows two teens, played by Marano and Leclerc, who were switched at birth and grew up in very different atmospheres.
