'Full House' reimagined as cop drama on 'The Late Show'

NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- John Stamos, Bob Saget and Dave Coulier joined Stephen Colbert Wednesday for a cop drama reimagining of Full House.

The skit titled Full House Nights, features the trio reprising their roles as Danny Tanner, Uncle Jesse and Uncle Joey from the popular sitcom series as gritty detectives who "have seen a little bit too much."

"The basic premise is that after the Tanner kids go to sleep, the Full House daddies go out to the mean streets of San Francisco and we solve crimes," Stamos said, explaining the premise to The Late Show host.

The scene starts with Colbert, now as a mustached wanted criminal named Dmitri, waiting to be confronted by police inside an interrogation room. "Cut the crap, Dmitri! Where's the next shipment coming in?" Stamos yells. "I don't know what you're talking about, strangely young-looking man," Colbert responds.

After Coulier displays Uncle Joey's signature Bullwinkle and Popeye cartoon impersonations, Saget offers to forgive Colbert in classic Full House fashion, offering him residence inside his family home. "Everybody has pain," Saget says. "And everybody wants to bury that pain under piles and piles of blow. But it's no excuse to break the law. I think you've learned an important lesson here today, Dmitri."

The comedy sketch aired as Netflix renewed the Full House sequel series Fuller House for a second season. The new series reunites the majority of the original cast and focuses on an adult D.J. Tanner (Candace Cameron Bure) as she raises her three sons with sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy's (Andrea Barber) help. Stamos, Saget and Coulier frequently guest-star on the show.

All 13 episodes of Fuller House are available for steaming on Netflix.
