LOS ANGELES, Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Several episodes of the upcoming third season of the period drama Penny Dreadful will be filmed in Spain, Showtime confirmed. "Shooting in the city of Almería in the Andalusia region, the episodes will follow Ethan, Sir Malcolm, new series regular Kaetenay and Hecate as they battle dark forces in the 1800s American West," a press release said.

The series is primarily set in Victorian-era England.
Season 3 is to premiere on May 1. It will feature Patti LuPone, who guest starred last season as the Cut-Wife, now in the series-regular role of Dr. Seward, an American therapist who treats Vanessa, played by Eva Green.
The show's ensemble also includes Josh Hartnett, Billie Piper, Reeve Carney, Timothy Dalton, Wes Studi and Perdita Weeks.
