Dakota Johnson says her top nearly fell off at PCAs

NEW YORK, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Dakota Johnson's recent wardrobe malfunction nearly left her topless at the 2016 People's Choice Awards.

The 26-year-old actress recounted the incident during an appearance Monday on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Johnson was onstage at the ceremony when she and presenter Leslie Mann hugged so hard the zipper on her dress broke.

"I hadn't seen [Leslie] in a while so I hugged her, and it wasn't just like [a normal hug]," the star explained. "I hugged Leslie and my dress broke. And it was a two-piece, so my top almost fell off."

Johnson, who was accepting an award for Fifty Shades of Grey at the time, laughed off the incident by quipping, "Well, it's not like nobody here hasn't already seen my boobs." The actress appeared topless in Fifty Shades, which opened in theaters in February.

Johnson played Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades, and will reprise the role in sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. The actress previously told Vogue she "wanted to be involved because [the story is] so different and it's an intense love story."

"It's just the most insane thing to be a part of," she said of the much-hyped franchise, which is based on the E.L. James erotic novels. "I've never experienced anything like this; I don't think anyone has. It's terrifying -- and it's exciting."

Fifty Shades Darker will open Feb. 10, 2017 with House of Cards helmer James Foley replacing Sam Taylor-Johnson as director. Foley is also expected to helm Fifty Shades Freed, which is scheduled for Feb. 9, 2018.

Johnson will next star in How to Be Single with Mann, Rebel Wilson and Alison Brie. The actress is also slated for Suspiria with Tilda Swinton and The Sound of Metal with Matthias Schoenaerts.
