LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- The star-studded, faux-singing competition series Lip Sync Battle has been renewed for a third season, Spike announced.

The 20 half-hour episodes will be taped later this year, Kevin Kay, the cable television network's president, said Tuesday.

"Lip Sync Battle is a multiplatform, pop-culture phenomenon that has played an integral role in delivering a new and broader audience to Spike," Kay said in a statement.

The premiere date for Season 3 will be announced in the near future.

Spike released Wednesday a preview clip of Tracee Ellis-Ross performing Nicki Minaj's "Super Bass." She and her black-ish co-star Anthony Anderson will face off on Thursday's edition of the program, which is now in its second season.

Lip Sync Battle is hosted by LL Cool J and Chrissy Teigen. The show is executive produced by Casey Patterson, Jay Peterson of Matador Content, John Krasinski, Stephen Merchant, and Eight Million Plus Productions.
