LOS ANGELES, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Ray Donovan alum Johnathon Schaech has signed on to play DC Comics wild west bounty hunter Jonah Hex in the CW's upcoming superhero team-up series Legends of Tomorrow.

Schaech will be joining the time traveling cast of heroes in episode 11 of Legends as they travel back in time to the old west to the small town of Salvation.

"Ever since we decided that Legends would involve time travel, we were eager to do a story set in the Old West," executive producer Marc Guggenheim previously said to Entertainment Weekly.

"But if you're going to do a story set in the DC Universe version of the Old West, you simply must include Jonah Hex in it. We're thrilled about bringing another well known, beloved DC character to television," he continued.

Hex, an anti-hero gunslinger who lives by his own moral code, was previously portrayed by Josh Brolin in the 2010 film, Jonah Hex.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow, which brings together heroes and villains from Arrow and The Flash including The Atom, White Canary, Captain Cold, Heatwave, Firestorm, and Hawkman and Hawkgirl, debuts Thursday at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
