LOS ANGELES, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- The X-Files revival released its one-minute opening scene Wednesday.

The clip sees Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) recap his history with the X-Files and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson), recalling his sister's disappearance and such cases as Eugene Victor Tooms (Doug Hutchison).

"Since my childhood, I have been obsessed with a controversial global phenomenon," the character says. "My obsession took me to the FBI, where I investigated paranormal science cases through the auspices of a unit known as the X-Files."

"In 1993, the FBI sought to impugn my work, bringing in a scientist and medical doctor to debunk it," he adds. "In 2002, in a change of direction and policy, the FBI closed the X-Files and our investigation ceased. But my personal obsession did not."

The X-Files will return for a limited six-episode revival Jan. 24 at 10 p.m. ET on Fox. Duchovny and Anderson opened up about their return to Entertainment Tonight at the revival's premiere Tuesday in Los Angeles.

"It was nostalgic," the actor said of reading the new script for the first time, revealing the experience brought him to tears. "It was just seeing the, just the names on the page again, you know?"

"I'm excited [we're giving fans] a mix of the kinds of episodes that we used to do," Anderson added. "There's monster of the week and there's mythology, and there's comedic, and it's nice that we have enough time to give an assortment. I think there's something for everybody."

The X-Files originally had a nine-season run from 1993 to 2002, and was followed by the 2008 feature film The X-Files: I Want to Believe. Duchovny presently plays Sam Hodiak on NBC drama Aquarius, while Anderson portrays Stella Gibson on BBC series The Fall.
