PASADENA, Calif., Jan. 13 (UPI) -- The upcoming Twin Peaks revival for Showtime is almost finished shooting, network CEO David Nevins announced Tuesday.

Speaking at the Television Critics Association in Pasadena, Calif., Nevins gave an update on director of the series David Lynch, saying Lynch is "now more than halfway through his shooting schedule, and the limited series will premier in the first half of 2017."

The new revival is co-written by creators Lynch and Mark Frost and is reportedly being recorded as if it were a movie. The production will be cut into episodes in post-production. From what he saw in 24 minutes of footage, CEO Nevins told the audience the new material is "stupendous."

It was recently announced that actress Laura Dern has signed on to Showtime's Twin Peaks revival. The show will also star original cast members Kyle MacLachlan, Sheryl Lee and Sherilyn Fenn. Robert Knepper, Balthazar Getty and Amanda Seyfried are also part of the project.
